We are concerned community members who recognize the need to have a strong voice in matters of public health, specifically substance abuse prevention. We are affiliated with POSAFY, a non-profit 501c3 organization. www.posafy.org
JOIN US. We are linking together with like minded groups, organizations, individuals, etc. who are concerned about substance abuse and youth in San Luis Obispo County. The Alliance was recently formed by the non-profit POSAFY (Prevention of Substance Abuse for Youth) to join hands with others who are concerned in our community. This Alliance will allow us to disseminate important information to an extended group of people, in a timely and concise manner. Your voice is critical to this process!
Please join our efforts in identifying issues, addressing them and educating on risks. There is no charge, nothing for you to do except notify your groups of information you feel may be of interest to them. Please add your email to our list and you will receive notices of matters that concern our extended community. We invite parent groups, religious organizations, health minded practitioners, clubs, individuals, politicians, schools and others who care about our future public health, particularly our youth.
A healthy community depends on being educated. We all need to understand the current epidemic of Opiod abuse, the impacts of marijuana and the continued over-use of alcohol. We live in a wine region that promotes consumption of alcohol and now we are adding marijuana to that promotion. How do we protect our youth. Your input and understanding of these issues is key. Please join our efforts. It matters. You matter. Our children matter.
AT ISSUE TODAY: Our City is prepared to allow marijuana store fronts and manufacturing of marijuana products here in SLO, we need to express our concerns why this is not good for the public health of SLO. The Central Coast Alliance for Drug Free Youth stands against this promotion of recreational drugs in our City and ask that you join our voice in opposing this. We have ample information on the lessons learned from other legalized states. At the very least, we must ask our Council to move more slowly and with caution. However, they are not planning to do that, they are planning to go full force with manufacturing and selling in storefronts here in SLO. This includes high concentrate THC products that are very addictive and are causing mental illness, along with crime and suicides.
PLEASE JOIN US IN OPPOSING THIS DECISION. Time is of the essence. They plan to vote on Feb. 20 and although they have already unanimously decided their vote forward, we need to be heard.
We will be preparing information to express our concerns and will share them with the Alliance members. JOIN US!
